Things to Do in Dubai During Winter

Winter Activities in Dubai

Winter is almost here, and being my favourite season in the UAE, it’s the perfect time to plan all those exciting outdoor adventures and experiences that Dubai is known for. With cooler temperatures and sunny skies, the city comes alive in a way that summer can’t match. From adrenaline-pumping activities in the desert to leisurely strolls on the beach, winter in Dubai offers something for everyone. Here’s a guide to the top things to do during this magical season, whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned local looking to make the most of the winter months.

1. Desert Safari Adventures

Dubai’s desert is magical in winter. The cool breeze makes for a perfect setting for a desert safari, one of the city’s most iconic activities. You can embark on a thrilling dune-bashing ride, experience traditional Bedouin culture, enjoy a camel ride, or opt for sandboarding. End the day with a beautiful sunset and a delicious BBQ under the stars.

2. Explore Dubai’s Beaches

Winter is the perfect time to soak up the sun at Dubai’s stunning beaches without the scorching summer heat. JBR Beach, Kite Beach, and La Mer are some of the most popular spots, offering crystal-clear waters, sandy shores, and plenty of activities. Whether you want to relax, try jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, or take a walk along the promenade, Dubai’s beaches offer something for everyone.

3. Discover Dubai’s Historical Side

Dubai’s roots run deep, and winter is the best time to dive into the city’s rich history and heritage. The Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood is a must-visit, with its charming wind-tower architecture and narrow alleys. But a hidden gem that I particularly love is the Al Shindagha Museum. This fascinating museum, located by the historic Dubai Creek, offers a journey through Dubai’s transformation from a humble fishing village to the bustling metropolis it is today. The museum’s “Dubai Creek: Birth of a City” exhibit is especially interesting, shedding light on the city’s maritime and trade heritage. After exploring, hop on an abra for a traditional boat ride across the creek, and visit the Gold Souk and Spice Souk for a taste of Old Dubai.

Winter in Dubai means al fresco shopping and dining at some of the city’s most vibrant locations. Visit the Global Village, an annual cultural festival that brings together the best from over 90 countries. The open-air market offers a mix of shopping, food, and entertainment from around the globe. Alternatively, head to the Dubai Marina, with its scenic views, high-end restaurants, and boutique stores along the promenade.
