Must-Try Foods at Flayva Al Ghurair That I Love

1. Beef Pares at Chibog

Nothing beats a warm bowl of Beef Pares when you’re in the mood for something comforting. The tender beef chunks, cooked in a savoury-sweet sauce, are perfect paired with bone marrow and garlic fried rice. This dish always reminds me of home and gives me a sense of comfort whenever I’m feeling a bit homesick. Plus, the combination of the rich beef flavor and the garlicky rice is just heavenly.

2. Chicken Pad Thai at Siam

Whenever I want a change of pace, I head over to Siam for their Chicken Pad Thai. It’s the right balance of flavours—sweet, tangy, and a bit spicy—thanks to the tamarind sauce and chili flakes. The stir-fried noodles are always cooked just right, and the peanuts add that extra crunch I love. It’s a refreshing break from my usual Filipino favorites, and I like how it mixes things up.

3. Yanked Chicken Bao at Bao Friend

Bao Friend has quickly become a favourite of mine, especially their Yanked Chicken Bao. Imagine soft, steamed bao buns filled with juicy pulled chicken that’s marinated in a tangy sauce. Each bite is so flavourful, and the bao itself is perfectly light and fluffy. It’s the perfect snack when I’m craving something savory yet light.

4. Soto Ayam at Indonesian Warung Bandung

Soto Ayam is a dish I turn to when I want something warm and comforting. This Indonesian chicken soup is rich and flavourful, with tender chicken, glass noodles, and boiled eggs in a fragrant broth. The herbs and spices are what make this dish stand out for me—it’s like a hug in a bowl. It’s perfect for those days when I need something soothing.

5. Seafood in a Box at Spice Grill

If you love seafood, you have to try the Seafood in a Box at Spice Grill. It’s a feast with a mix of clams, mussels, shrimp, sweet corn, and crab balls, all packed into one flavorful box. What makes it special are the sauces, and while I enjoy all three, the Salted Eggspectation sauce really stands out for me. The creamy salted egg flavor clings to the seafood perfectly, adding richness without overpowering the natural taste. It’s a seafood lover’s dream and one of the dishes I find myself craving the most.

6. Matcha Ice Cream at Tako Ichiban

I’m not really a big fan of matcha, but my wife is. However, I started to love the Matcha Ice Cream at Tako Ichiban. The flavour is perfectly balanced—earthy, slightly bitter, but with enough sweetness to keep it from being overwhelming. It’s a refreshing way to end a meal, especially after indulging in some of the savory dishes.

Finally, I have to talk about Bilog at Salvis. This ice cream sandwich is such a fun dessert! The homemade ice creams are what make it special—the flavors are always rich and creamy. The soft sandwich layers hold everything together perfectly, making each bite a satisfying mix of textures and tastes. It’s the perfect treat to round off a meal at Flayva.
